Sean Cercone’s illustrious career in the theater industry has spanned numerous high-profile roles, culminating in his position as the Founder and CEO of Broadway Licensing Global. His leadership and business development skills extended across affiliated entities such as Dramatists Play Service, Playscripts, Stage Rights, Stageworks Productions, and Broadway on Demand, establishing a comprehensive ecosystem for theatrical development, production, publishing, and distribution, both digital and traditional.

Cercone’s vision and strategies resulted in the licensing of over 24,000 productions annually, collaborating with over 2,800 authors and managing more than 8,000 titles. His innovative approach led to the creation of Broadway on Demand, a pioneering streaming platform, which played a pivotal role during the pandemic through its ShowShare interface, enabling thousands of productions to continue.

With a focus on nurturing new works, talent and innovative storytelling, Cercone has authored global hit musicals with writing partner David Abbinanti such as Heartbreak Hotel, Saturday Night Fever, and Beatbugs, based on the Netflix animated series, captivating millions of audience members in 29 countries around the world.

Cercone’s creative contributions include an Emmy Nomination and his insights have been featured in various podcasts, attracting millions of listeners, cementing his status as a thought leader. His expertise has been sought after by prestigious institutions with roles on the Board of Lincoln Center Performing Arts Library, National Alliance of Musical Theatre and the West Virginia Public Theatre.

Before pioneering Broadway Licensing Global, Cercone made significant impacts as Chief Business Officer at Theatrical Rights Worldwide. His rich background in theater includes roles as Producing Artistic Director of The Carousel, Executive Producer of Theatre Building Chicago and Founder of the West Virginia Shakespeare Festival. Cercone holds an MFA in Theatre from West Virginia University and is an avid Ironman competitor, showcasing his dedication to perseverance and excellence in both his professional and personal life.
