How do I apply for CLUE?
To submit your application, please navigate to the version of the show you would like to produce. Once the license application form is filled out, please allow up to two weeks for your license to be processed. Pending restrictions, a license agreement will be sent to you via email.
How much will my production of CLUE cost?
Production fees are dependent on the information provided in your license application, please apply for a license to receive an exact pricing breakdown. For a general breakdown of fees before applying, please look at the pricing breakdown listed on the CLUE page of our website.
What is the difference between CLUE: On Stage and CLUE: On Stage (High School Edition)?
The scripts for CLUE: On Stage (High School Edition) are not different in length and there are no significant changes to the plot, however, the language has been modified to suit a younger audience and some of the more risqué themes have also been changed (i.e., Miss Scarlet is no longer a madame but works in Washington, etc.) If you would like to preview the text, you can read an excerpt of the script for free. The Production Package for CLUE: On Stage (High School Edition) is $100 less than the standard version to accommodate educational productions.
Can we add/remove materials from our order?
Yes, you can change the add-on selections for your order at any time before your first performance. Please contact your Licensing Representative to make changes.
When will my materials ship?
Your production package will ship out approximately 60 days prior to your show’s opening night. If you would like to receive materials earlier, you can purchase Extra Rehearsal Weeks at a rate of $100/week. You may also order an Advance Pack, which includes 2 Acting Edition Scripts and 1 Keyboard Underscore Book shipped as soon as payment is processed.
My perusal script doesn’t open. How do I access it?
Please click the download link in the email you received after payment, which will download an unlocked, watermarked PDF to your computer. If you experience download issues, please reach out to your Licensing Representative.
Can I get an invoice for my order?
Yes, please contact your Licensing Representative to receive an invoice for your order.
Can I pay over the phone with my credit card?
To pay with a credit card please pay directly from your Playscripts Account.
What are the differences between the available Music and Audio add-ons?
- Director’s Reference Recordings: WATERMARKED MUSIC FOR REHEARSAL USE ONLY TO PLAN STAGING. This is included in your standard Production Package.
- Keyboard Patch Designer (Add-On): ONLY NEEDED IF YOU ARE USING A LIVE KEYBOARD PLAYER. This package and the Stage Tracks are mutually exclusive services. The Keyboard Patch Designer organizes all of the keyboard patch sequences for you. All that is required is a Mac computer with the Mainstage app and a keyboard with a USB connection.
- Stage Tracks (Add-On): NON-WATERMARKED PRE-RECORDED UNDERSCORING MUSIC TRACKS TO USE IN YOUR PERFORMANCES. Provided by Right On Cue Services, but must be ordered through your “CLUE” Licensing Representative.
- Sound Effects Package (Add-On): Traditional Sound Effect files (thunder, gunshots, dogs barking, etc.) No additional software is required so you can run these from a computer, phone or tablet.

Where are my Stage Tracks?
After payment is made on your Stage Tracks, you will be receiving an emailed agreement from Right on Cue Services (ROCS) via PandaDocs. You will need to digitally sign and return it to them to have your Stage Tracks emailed to you. Please check your junk mail folder; for troubleshooting your purchased Stage Tracks please contact ROCS directly.
Can I order an Archival Video License?
Archival Video Licenses are only available for productions that have purchased Streaming via ShowShare on Broadway On Demand.
Can I change my dates?
Yes, pending restrictions we can modify your contracted dates. Please reach out to your Licensing Representative.
What are the options if we need to make adjustments due to COVID-19?
We have several options for your production in the event the ongoing pandemic impacts your ability to stage your show. You can contact your Licensing Representative to set up Streaming via ShowShare on Broadway On Demand. If your production goes fully remote, contact your Licensing Representative to switch to CLUE (Stay-At-Home). Pending restrictions, we are also able to postpone your dates.
Can I get a refund for my order?
Please reach out to your Licensing Representative to see if you qualify for a full or partial refund. If you are eligible for a refund, please allow up to one month to receive it.
