Harry Potter and the Cursed Child – A Magical Journey Continues

Since its debut in 2016, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been a sensational hit. The play, written by Jack Thorne and based on an original story by J.K. Rowling, John Tiffany, and Thorne, takes place 19 years after the Battle of Hogwarts. It follows the adventures of Harry Potter, now a Ministry of Magic employee, and his youngest son, Albus Severus Potter.

With the inclusion of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in its catalog, Broadway Licensing Group aims to make the magic accessible to schools and youth theatres. Now, young actors can step into the shoes of their beloved characters, reliving the magic that has entranced millions worldwide.

The school edition will feature the same story as seen on Broadway or in London’s West End, but has been adapted to have a shorter runtime, as well as new creative techniques to convert the highly technical wizardry of the original production into magic and spells that schools can achieve, no matter their budget and socioeconomic backgrounds.

“When I was developing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child with the creative team, one of our founding principles was that the magic, illusions and special effects should have their roots in storytelling techniques that could be achieved when playing at home or in school. This might involve borrowing your teacher’s winter coat to act out the effects of taking Polyjuice Potion, or raiding the loft for suitcases to create the Hogwarts Express.” said director John Tiffany. He continues “So opening the world of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child up to schools is thrilling and feels like the natural next step in our journey.”

In performing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, young actors will be able to unleash their creativity and hone their craft. Exploring the complexities of friendship, family, and courage, this production encourages young performers to delve into the depths of emotion and imagination.

This captivating journey continues to inspire, delight, and remind us all of the enduring magic of the wizarding world. So, ready your wands and step into the realm of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
