Stephen Weiner is a Winner of two Richard Rodgers Awards from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, a Jonathan Larson Grant, The ASCAP Richard Rodgers Award, The Global Search for New Musicals Award, and Drama Desk, Lucille Lortel and Obie nominations. Original scores for Off-Broadway, Regional Theater and United Kingdom include Penelope (original cast album available on all platforms), The Rivals, Monte Cristo, The Honeymooners, Iron Curtain, newyorkers, After Happily Ever After, Once Upon a Time in New Jersey, The Hudsucker Proxy, Rocket Science. For film: Marco Polo (Disney Animated Feature Development,). Steve’s song “Deli” written with lyricist Glenn Slater can be frequently heard in auditions and Musical Theatre Conservatory Showcases. Steve is co-collaborating with Mohawk composer Ed Koban on an exciting new musical Gone Astray, Book by Jennie Redling, based on the award winning play by Ms. Redling. Steve is a member of ASCAP, a Dramatists Guild member and an alum of the fabled BMI Musical Theatre Workshop. He has been lucky enough to be mentored by the giants of Musical Theatre including Charles Strouse, Maury Yeston, Carol Hall, and the other Stephens (Sondheim and Schwartz).
