Katherine Paterson is the author of more than forty books, including eighteen novels for young people, and has twice won both the Newbery Medal and the National Book Award. Her books have been published in twenty-six languages, and she was the 1998 recipient of the most distinguished international award for children’s literature, the Hans Christian Andersen Medal. At the two hundredth anniversary of the Library of Congress she was named one of America’s Living Legends. Her novel The Same Stuff as Stars was published in 2002. She is the co-author, with her husband, John, of the picture book Blueberries for the Queen, which is illustrated by Susan Jeffers. Her stage adaptation of The Tale of Jemima Puddle-Duck is published by Dramatists Play Service, Inc. Katherine lives in Vermont and has four children and seven grandchildren.
