Derek Gregor

Derek Gregor is an NYC-based composer for stage and screen. He is a recipient of a Richard Rodgers Award, a John Wallowitch Award and a MAC award among others.  Derek’s musical UNLOCK’D (w/ Sam Carner) received an extended off-Broadway run at the Duke Theater, after development at the Ravinia Festival, TheatreWorks Palo Alto and Princeton University. His musicals Island Song and Techies (both w/ Carner) are licensed worldwide through Broadway Licensing. Carner and Gregor’s frequently-performed cabaret material has led to a YouTube following.  Derek’s TYA short musical Love Splat tours with Theatreworks. 

Derek wrote the original songs (w/ Selda Sahin lyrics) for the feature film American Reject (Keala Settle, Annaleigh Ashford, Rebecca Black, Billy Ray Cyrus). Derek’s musical Modern (w/ Sahin) was developed at the Stephen Schwartz ASCAP Workshop, the ASCAP “Grow A Show” Workshop in Nebraska, the Village Theatre, USC’s “Live Read” Series and the Bloomington Playwrights Project.  His musical Particle (w/ Sahin) was selected for MSU’s Imagen series. Derek has been a proud participant of the Rhinebeck Writers Retreat twice (Off Season w/Sahin) and In A Sunshine State w/Kreutz, Lind). In A Sunshine State received a workshop/production at San Diego State in April of 2024 as part of their New Musical Initiative.
