Vynnie Meli
Vynnie Meli grew up in Rochester, NY and in theater, art, dance, music, and writing. Choosing a BFA in sculpture over set design, she went from Richmond (VCU) to D.C. to Wisconsin, then Chicago and grad school before settling on advertising and Atlanta (Art Director). All paths converged when, inspired by her daughters, she started writing her first play. Theater is visual, physical, visceral, and it can take you wherever you want to go. In writing for other voices, Meli finally found her own.
Meli is Reiser’s Atlanta Artist Lab Fellow at the Alliance Theatre. A Eugene O’Neill semi-finalist with numerous grants and awards, multiple productions and was twice selected for NYMF. Her librettos won Atlanta Opera’s 24 Hour Opera Project 3 years in a row. Krispy Kremes and Butter Queens is coming to a theater or cooking segment near you. vynnie-meli.com Member of Dramatists Guild
