Bruce Kimmel
Bruce Kimmel wrote, directed, and starred in the cult movie hit, The First Nudie Musical (available on a Special Edition Blu-ray). He also co-created (with David Wechter) the story for the hit film, The Faculty, directed by Robert Rodriguez. As an actor, Mr. Kimmel guest-starred on most of the long-running television shows of the 1970s, including The Partridge Family (recurring), Happy Days, Laverne and Shirley, MASH, Alice, and many others.
Mr. Kimmel is a legendary Grammy-nominated producer of theatre music on CD, having produced over 180 albums. He was nominated for a Grammy for producing the revival cast album of Hello, Dolly! and his album with jazz pianist Fred Hersch, I Never Told You, was also nominated for a Grammy. His label, Kritzerland, issues soundtracks and theater music. For over a decade he has been producing and hosting a series of live entertainments called Kritzerland at Feinstein’s at Vitello’s, which feature incredible singers and fun guest stars.
His musical, The Brain from Planet X (written with David Wechter) has been seen in Los Angeles, New York, England, Canada (in both English and French), Australia, and is now being performed regionally all over the country. His song “Simply” won the Mac Award for Best Song of the Year. He’s directed rave-reviewed productions of the musicals Li’l Abner, Inside Out, Welcome to My World, the new musical revue, L.A. Now and Then, Dial ‘M’ for Murder, the world- premiere of Levi! a new Sherman Brothers musical about Levi Strauss, The Man Who Came to Dinner, Doug Haverty’s play, In My Mind’s Eye and, of course, A Carol Christmas. During the pandemic, he wrote and directed an original musical for streaming, Tonight’s the Night (available on Blu-ray), and a thriller called Revenge.
Mr. Kimmel is the author of twenty-one books – eighteen works of fiction, and three memoirs, “There’s Mel, There’s Woody, and There’s You”, Album Produced By…, and Simply – A Lifetime of Lyrics.
