2023 TONY AWARD® NOMINEES

On Tuesday, May 2nd the nominations for the 76th annual Tony Awards were announced. This year’s ceremony will be held on June 11 at the United Palace Theatre, honoring the best of Broadway during the 2022-2023 season.  

The most nominated show this year is Some Like It Hot, which received 13 nominations, including Best Musical. Other shows nominated for Best Musical include & Juilet, New York, New York, and Shucked each receiving 9 nominations. Rounding out the Best Musical category is Kimberly Akimbo, a musical based on the play by David Lindsay-Abaire, which received a total of 8 Tony nominations.  

In the Best Play category, Ain’t No Mo’ and Leopoldstadt both received a total of 6 nominations, tying for the most-nominated plays. Other nominees for Best Play include Cost of Living and Fat Ham both with 5 nominations and Between Riverside and Crazy with 2 nominations. The 2023 Tony Awards will be broadcast on CBS beginning at 8 p.m. ET, as well as a livestream available on Paramount+. The pre-show, including the presentation of creative awards, will also be available for livestream on Pluto TV at 6:30 p.m. ET. 

The Broadway Licensing Group celebrates its titles that received a 2023 Tony nomination. These titles include Between Riverside and Crazy, Cost of Living, Leopoldstadt, and Topdog/Underdog. Broadway Licensing also congratulates its writers who also received a 2023 Tony nomination, including Stephen Adly Guirgis, Amy Herzog, Jason Howland, James Ijames, Tom Kitt, James Lapine, David Lindsay-Abaire, Matthew López, Martyna Majok, Arian Moayed, Suzan-Lori Parks, David West Read, Stephen Sondheim, Tom Stoppard, Alfred Uhry, Daryl Waters, and Hugh Wheeler.  

The Tony Awards have always been a celebration of the best and brightest in the theatre industry, and this year’s nominees are no exception. With a diverse range of productions and talent nominated, it’s sure to be a thrilling and memorable ceremony. Tune in on June 11 to see who takes home the coveted awards.
